Save the Date - Botanical Workshop with Margaret Best Andalucia, Spain April 28 – May 6, 2016

Immerse yourself in the splendour of southern Spain next spring, at Margaret Best’s next European painting workshop. Begin your trip with two nights in Sevilla, a city that is the true heart of Spain. It dazzles with its vibrant tapas bars, historic buildings and its cathedral, which is the largest Gothic building in the world. Lose yourself in the perfumed gardens filled with orange trees in the Moorish masterpiece, the Alcázar, and listen to the gentle trickling of water from its many fountains.

After a day exploring Sevilla, drive approximately one hour into the stunning Sierra Morena Mountains. Here, make yourself at home in the historic refuge of Trasierra, a family-run hotel located in a converted olive mill. The aromas of the garden suffuse the air and the 350-acre estate is replete with olive and orange groves. Trasierra is owned by an artist/interior designer and her family, giving it a true home-away-from-home feel. White-washed walls, terracotta roofs and charming interiors create a rustic chic ambience.

On your first afternoon, take a walk through the lush, surrounding gardens with a local botanist, and then spend 5 days in the airy art studio to work on your painting under Margaret’s tutelage. Cultural excursions during the week include food foraging and Andalucian cooking, wine and olive oil tasting, and a flamenco dancing demonstration. Finish the week with an informal exhibition and banquet dinner with the group and the hotel owners.

Details of the full itinerary and a 3 or 4-night post-workshop trip will be released by May 2015.
